September 24, 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PHILANTHRO PRODUCTIONS HELPS GRANT WISHES IMAGINE Event brings together Young Bay Area Professionals to help Make-A-Wish Foundation SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 17, 2009) -- Philanthro Productions presents IMAGINE, an event to raise funds for the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation on September 26 at Suede in the North Beach area. Ticket sales for the event and donations will directly help grant wishes for local Bay Area children living with a life-threatening medical conditions. One one these children is Jason, an eight-year-old battling sarcoma. Jason was eligible for a wish from the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation. Like many young boys, eight-year-old Jason is interested in outer space. He read many books on the subject and wondered what it would be like to be an astronaut. With the help of the organization, Jason took a trip to Orlando, had an opportunity to explore the space center, lunch with a real astronaut and a seat to view a space shuttle mission launch. “The Bay Area is full of socially conscious young professionals. However with our busy schedules, most of us don’t have time to search for the right charitable opportunities. That’s where Philanthro steps in. We are here to provide young professionals with unique opportunities to engage in meaningful philanthropy and meet other like-minded individuals,” said Yan Pu, Philanthro’s Co-President. "We are proud to partner with the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation where our efforts create life-changing experiences." The event will feature a candy bar, yummy cupcakes donated by Cupcakes by Yolie, caricatures from Jon Casey, music from DJ J-Cue, and DJ doctor J. Photography will be taken by Alex Bauzon. Doors open at 10 pm; ages 21+ only. Visit www.philanthroproductions.org for further information and to purchase tickets. About Philanthro Productions (www.philanthroproductions.org): About the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation® (www.makeawish.org): The Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. In 2009 the Foundation celebrates 25 years of fulfilling magical wishes. During its first year of operation, in 1984, the Foundation granted 27 wishes. Now one of the largest chapters nationwide, the Greater Bay Area chapter grants over 300 wishes per year and recently fulfilled its 5,000th wish. The chapter covers 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma. The goal of the Foundation is to grant a wish to every eligible child in its territory, and anyone can suggest a child for a wish. In 2005, the Chapter was recognized with a coveted “Best in America Seal of Excellence” award, the first Make-A-Wish Chapter to achieve this distinction for its outstanding management and governance practices. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
